peer Mentoring Program

Get the industry experience you need by supporting vulnerable adolescents in need

Background

What do industries value more education or experience?

The truth is it depends.

What I can tell you though is this…

Even though education is a prerequisite in some industries, statistics say that 65% of employers value experience over education.

So, as an 18 – 22-year-old, fresh out of high school, in the midst of your undergraduate degree, trying to balance pursuing your future career ambitions with managing the day-to-day challenges of balancing study and work, what are you meant to do with that? How are you meant to get what is required whilst also getting what is deemed ‘more valuable’?

We have the answer.

Our Peer Mentoring Program will provide you with a flexible platform to get the industry experience you need. Our program will upskill you, compliment your studies, and it will get you the experience your future employer desires, all while getting paid.

If that isn’t enough than let me detail the tremendous impact, you can have.

You see this program isn’t just about you.

All throughout our community there are adolescents living with disabilities. These individuals are faced with tremendous challenge we would never be able to understand. They need additional support. And yet there can be some insecurity around that.

It is a conflicting dilemma, they need the support their disability requires, however they are also adolescents looking to build independence just like you.

So, we went to work and figured out the answer to this dilemma, and the answer is…

YOU.

With our program you will be equipped to provide the support they require and the best part is, you already posess what they are really looking for…. a MENTOR, better yet, a PEER MENTOR.

Overview

The Peer Mentoring Program will run for 24 weeks. Exact dates are to be confirmed as we are still in the midst of our Mentor intake.

The program consists of an educational phase designed to upskill Mentors on the role they will be undertaking, how to provide the services expected of them, and insight into working with their Mentee’s demographic. The beauty of the curriculum we have put together is its transferability. Meaning, regardless of your studies and the industry you choose YOU WILL NEED to be able to utilize the skills we are going to teach.

Following completion of the Peer Mentoring Program curriculum there will be a Meet & Greet phase. Mentors and Mentees will be introduced and given facilitated time to begin to get to know each other and build the comfort and trust required for the final phase of the program.

Once all parties are in agreeance, then the Peer Mentoring Relationship can officially begin. This period is a tremendous opportunity to immediately put to use the skills you have been equipped with in this program whilst also providing invaluable support to your Mentee.

At the commencement of the program, you will have everything you need. Skills to compliment your study, industry experience your future employer requires, and continued, flexible work for the remainder of your studies.
